Award recognitions are awarded each year and will be presented this year at the 7th Annual Black Trans Advocacy Awards Gala.

BTAC FOUNDATION AWARDS
Rev Lawrence T Richardson Humanitarian Award – Named for the remarkable work of LT Richardson, comparably, candidates for the Humanitarian Award are individual making a positive community impact, helping to improve conditions within the trans* community and abroad. The Humanitarian Award recipient provides service to all equally, neutrally and cooperatively; Embraces common morals such as honesty, integrity, compassion and responsibility; Respects and embraces human diversity.
Dr. Kortney Ryan Ziegler Awareness Award – Named after the innovative works of Dr. Ziegler, comparably, candidates for the Awareness award is a transgender individual this is dedicated to increasing positive visibility of Black transgender people in the media through film, music and television. The Awareness Award recipient is committed to providing a positive visible image of trans people with understanding the importance of advocacy in media and providing a voice for all those who are trans identified.
Monica Roberts Advocacy Award – Named after the influential and intrepid work of long time activist Monica Roberts, comparably, the recipient of the Advocacy Award is a transgender individual that demonstrate effective workings through advocacy to create change in educational and legislative policy at the local, state/provincial, and/or national levels. The Advocacy Award recipient is passionate about the needs of the trans people and take every opportunity to place these issues on the forefront for and social change.
Rev Louis Mitchell Empowerment Award – Named after the phenomenal works of a community staple, Louis Mitchell, relatively, the recipient of the Empowerment Award is a transgender person committed to self development in the purest and view each as an important individual contributor to the whole. Through personal encouragement and availability, the award recipient aids in the enhancement and development of confidence and knowledge, increasing one’s positive self-image in their own capacity. Empower one, empower all.
Kylar Broadus Esq Equality Award – Named after the commanding works of Kylar Broadus, Esq, comparably, the recipient of the Equality Award displays extraordinary efforts in the political process on behalf of the transgender community. This person courageously speaks out to legislators, committed to advancing the transgender rights movement. The Equality Award recipient is focused on social justice and equality responding to the needs of trans people in legal and political environments.
ADVOCATE OF THE YEAR AWARDS
Black Transmen Inc, Man of The Year – The recipient of this award has demonstrated outstanding support and contributions to BTA and the movement. This gentleman continuously makes improvements and a positive influence, and has distinguished themselves as a leader among their peers and the Black Trans* movement.
Black Transwomen Inc, Woman of The Year – The recipient of this award has demonstrated outstanding support and contributions to BTA and the movement. This woman continuously makes improvements and a positive influence, and has distinguished themselves as a leader among their peers and the Black Trans* movement.
COMMUNITY CHOICE AWARDS
Rising Star Award – Recognition of individuals that demonstrate outstanding potential as a future leader in the Black Trans movement.
Trailblazers Award – Recognition of individuals that are creating new and different ways to advance the Black Trans movement.
Pillar Award – Recognition of a spouse or family member of a Black Trans person that shows unyielding support of Black Trans Advocacy through community involvement, participation and leadership
Trans Ally Awards – This award recognizes an ally that has exemplified unwavering support to the (Black) trans* community by dispelling stereotypes, myths, and prejudices by creating bridges of understanding through education.
